After installing 10 of the 12 hives earlier in May, City Bee Savers have returned several times to inspect the bees and added 2 additional colonies. They also increased the space for each colony by giving them full hive boxes. All of the hives are now on pallets. Four colonies to each pallet. The Pallet arrangement makes it simpler for transporting the bees in the fall.
There is a great nectar flow occurring right now due to the black locust bloom. Once that is finished we expect the linden trees to come into bloom. By the time these blooms are finished the bees should start storing their early summer honey. It is then we expect to begin honey extraction.
