BLACK BOTTOM BANANA CREAM PIE

A cool, easy way to present the classic combination of chocolate and bananas for dessert.

INGREDIENTS

  • 25    vanilla wafers, finely crushed (about 1 cup crumbs)
  • 6  tablespoons   margarine or butter, melted, divided
  • 2  tablespoons   sugar
  • 4  (1-ounce)   squares semisweet chocolate
  • 2    large bananas, sliced
  • 1    (4-serving size) package ROYAL Instant Vanilla Pudding & Pie Filling
  • 2  cups   cold milk
  •     Whipped topping, for garnish

DIRECTIONS

  1. Mix crumbs, 4 tablespoons melted margarine or butter and sugar in medium bowl. Reserve 2 tablespoons crumb mixture. Press remaining crumb mixture firmly on bottom and side of 9-inch pie plate; set aside.
  2. Heat chocolate and remaining margarine or butter over low heat, stirring until smooth. Spread evenly over bottom of prepared crust; top with banana slices. Set aside.
  3. Prepare pudding according to package directions for pie using milk; pour over bananas. Chill at least 1 hour. Serve garnished with whipped topping and reserved crumb mixture.
